Imran Khan’s phone conversation with Trump over Kashmir issue

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has spoken to US President Donald Trump shortly before the discussion about Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly. Imran Khan informed Trump of his concern for the first time over the Indian-ruled Kashmir’s autonomy issue after special rights were repealed. Pakistani media Dawn reported that.

At a news conference, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Imran Khan had spoken to President Trump today. He also said the two leaders spoke about the situation of the region.

The phone call by Trump-Imran Khan took place when news of the death of three Pakistani and five Indian soldiers was reported at the border between Pakistan and India. In addition, a closed-door meeting will be held on Friday at the UN Security Council on China’s call.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister said that the situation in Afghanistan, discussion with the Taliban, had also taken place during the Trump-Imran talks.

Earlier in July, in a meeting with Imran Khan, Trump claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had requested him to mediate the Kashmir dispute. However, the Indian government had denied the claim.

The BJP-led Central Government of India took away the rights and privileges of Kashmir autonomy by repealing Article 370 of the Indian Constitution on August 5. Kashmir has been virtually inactive since that day. Armed soldiers are patrolling the deserted streets by shutting down mobile internet services.

Pakistan expelled Indian ambassador from Islamabad as a protest. All trade agreements and transport communications have been suspended.

Earlier in a speech at a Pakistan-controlled Kashmir parliament on Wednesday, Imran Khan said that any wrongdoing in Delhi would be answered in its entirety. He said Pakistan’s army was ready for any war and ready to respond to any Indian violation. The whole nation is ready and they will stand by the armed forces.
