The Free Rohingya Coalition (FRC), an organization working on rights of Rohingyas, sought the resignation of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres due to failure to take action against the Rohingya massacre.
It may be mentioned that a UN report published 36 pages of Rohingyas in May. This 36-page report was made by former Foreign Minister of Guatemala and United Nations diplomat Gert Rosenthal. The UN system’s failure to preserve the rights of Rohingyas is acknowledged. AFRC sought the resignation of Antonio Gutters and Renata Lok Dessallien after the report came forward.
The organization said the United Nations Secretary-General and his other partners were responsible for the current situation of the Rohingya. They can not avoid this liability in any way.
In this case, Anadolu Agency said in a report, on Tuesday FRC asked UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and former UN resident coordinator Renata Lok Dessallien’s resignation in Myanmar.
According to the FRC, the UN Secretary-General is not seeing the issue of reprisal and rejection of Rohingyas, for which they are not taking any action against Myanmar and so, the Rohingya rejection has stopped. Moreover, the UN’s systemic failure is also being accounted for.
It is to be noted that on August 25, 2017, about nine lakh Rohingya fled to Bangladesh after accepting torture in Myanmar. The extreme genocide is to be accepted. In the last year, the repatriation agreement was completed in January, due to international pressure on Rohingyas to return to Myanmar. But Myanmar did not take back a Rohingya by showing various complications and excuses. The result is in the repatriation process.
